Effect
So
the rules for the Official UK charts have changed! As of
January 15th 2007, "ANY song legally available on the Internet
is eligible
for the Official UK singles chart". The big difference is
that prior to Jan 15th the CD ALSO had to be available...
NOT ANYMORE!
 This was perfectly demonstrated
in January by Chris Moyles, Radio 1 Presenter,
when he and his crew campaigned
to have his listeners (including me and my wife) purchase/download the MP3
of 'Honey To The Bee' by Billie Piper (actress,
former Dr Who star and former singer).
On January 21st it got in to the Top 20, even though the CD
wasn't readily available in the high street shops. Hence it's
now dubbed the
Chris Moyles Effect. Let it be known as this from now on :)
So on 07/07/07, YOU and I are taking over where Chris left off because I
don't imagine that Chris could get away with it too often.
